147. Vegas
Alex and Amy were in LA this week visiting Alex's cousin Justin. Alex, Amy, Justin, Justin's wife Natalie, and myself decided to hit up Vegas the day after they got out here....
View from our room at Mandalay Bay
Trip Summary:
Drove 270 miles in 3 hours 45 min (with a solid 15 min stop).
Checked in, dropped our stuff in the room, headed out to the strip.
Grabbed some lunch at subway. 2 road beers.
O'Shea's - Head straight to the back to play some beer pong. Killed a couple pitchers.
Mirage - Place some sports bets on the Yanks and Heat to win.
Treasure Island - dealers in bikini's. (the hot blonde dealer gave us the most sincere apology every time we lost a hand).
Back to the mirage to watch sports games and drink for free.
Eat the other half of my subway sangwich on the way. Drip ranch dressing all over my dark blue shorts... eeeee. Thank god I wore reversible shorts... I call that a next level wardrobe maneuver.
Get to the Mirage and find out that you had to have placed at least $125 worth of bets to qualify for free drinks. ummmm... no. kbye.
Back to O'sheas to watch the yanks/redsox and heat/bulls games.
Pick up some Mad Ballers on the way...
Yanks and Heat both lose. Fail.
Party Pit at Excalibur for $10 black jack.
Alex loses $60 in about 5 minutes. He calls it quits on blackjack.
Alex and Amy go play roulette. Justin, Natalie and I continue playing black jack for the next several hours. meanwhile, I'm POUNDING free jack and cokes up the wazz.
All of a sudden I notice a sharp pain in my chest... possibly having a heart attack.
Walk to the bathroom and vom.... then, straight back to blackjack.
Go down about $90 in blackjack. i'm like... RUH ROH.
Fight my way back to even. Call it a night.
Leave Excalibur and head towards Mandalay Bay to meet up with Glo and Scheff.
Find a bumpin' dance floor in the middle of one of the casinos. Natalie and I rip it up. Justin's too much of a puss to indulge.
Hit up Mcdonalds around 2am on the way back to the hotel. I call bullshit on the McDonals lady for putting up the breakfast menu and not serving me breakfast. haters gonna hate.
Get back to the hotel room to find Glo and Scheff passed out in bed. I slap both of them in the face.
Curl up on the floor and pass out.
...gotta love Vegas.

146. OFFICE BATHROOM!!
Arrived in LA on Wednesday to find that my bedroom was just a tad bit smaller than Bree's and Tatenda's... (and by 'a tad' i mean significantly). I was a little bummed cuz it didn't look like I'd have enough room to put furniture and whatnot... i.e. a double bed, a dresser, a desk, my keyboard & guitars etc. BUT, my bedroom did have it's own bathroom attached to it.
I was vid-chatting with Tom Lord the day I got out here and we were talking about what we could do with my room to make more space. One of the ideas was to loft the bed and put a dresser and/or desk underneath, but I had never heard of a lofted double bed and I didn't really want to have to climb into bed every night. I asked him if he could only have one of the two in his room, would he prefer a desk or a dresser. He said dresser. So we started debating alternate ways to incorporate a desk into my living space... and then it hit us.
What if I could somehow turn my bathroom... into an OFFICE! .......and the idea for the Office Bathroom was born.
Matt flew in from Oregon on Thursday evening, and first thing on Friday we got to work taking a brilliant idea.. and turning it into the best invention in the history of the world.
I give you the Office Bathroom:
When not in use, the Office Bathroom desk folds up against the wall, so as to not get in the way. It is held in place by a simple hook.
But THEN... with one swift motion... the Office Bathroom desk folds down into position.
I know... stunning isn't it.
Both the desk itself and the leg are attached with hinges to allow them to fold down into position seamlessly.
Here's a pic of me using my new Office Bathroom for the first time:
...and lets be honest, where else do you do your best thinking than on the toilet. Can't wait to come up with even more completely AWESOME ideas while using my Office Bathroom.
Tom and I were already tossing around some more ideas as to how to make the Office Bathroom EVEN better. If anyone thinks of anything that could take this room to a whole 'nother level... send them along and I'll see if I can make it happen.

139. Gathering
Starting to gather up all the things to bring out to LA with me next week.
Of course I have the absolute necessities: Two guitars, golf clubs, keyboard (off-screen)
the somewhat less necessary items but still somewhat needed: shoes, camera, clothes (off-screen)
and the amenities, aka all the extra stuff that I don't REALLY need: soap, food (off-screen), garbage bags, cookware.
You don't really realize what's important to you until you have to fit all your belongings into a tiny car and whichever ones you don't fit you're never gonna have again.

138. White House Correspondents Dinner
If you didn't see the White House Correspondents Dinner yesterday (notice how I say that like I actually watched it), Obama's speech is pretty damn entertaining...
137. Are We There Yet April
"Are We There Yet April" has officially come to a close. Here's a quick recap of everything that's gone down this month...
April 1-3: Fairfield/New Haven, Connecticut
Travelers: The Lord, Myself
See 'Team Road Trip Heads to CT'.
-America's best dance crew... aka the Flannel Friday'ers
-Drinking and Kan Yam on the beach all day. Dead-bird hand.
-Epic beer pong run.
-Tour of New Haven's various hoods with Nick 'Sticky-Dick' Neuman.
April 8-10: Ithaca, NY
Travelers: The Lord, Spreenwich, Meg, Myself
-Spreenwiches on the ride up.
-Happy hour w/ the South Albany crew.
-Out to some random party with the Lord. Felt WAY to old to be there.
-Soccer Girls house. Tom wandered off... the ushe. Scheff and I made a late-night trip to Taco Bell.
-The Lord and I make a trip up to campus. He drops $650 in the bookstore.
-Soccer Girls house to day-drink. Kan Jam up the WAZZ.
-Glenwood Pines Challenge (4 quarter pound cheeseburgers on THICK French bread). Me vs. Scheff. About ten other people at the table with us... not one of them rooting for me to finish the challenge. Scheff finishes the challenge. I make it abou 3/4 through. Full as a snail.
-Later that night I decided to go to da bahhhhhs. Dancing was not easy with that full of a stomach. Eventually I thought I had it under control and started jumping around a little more. I was wrong. Entire pinewood challenge was about to come up. two options... run for the bathroom, or run for the front door. I turn and look at the completely packed bar. front door was closer. I start making my way to the door as fast as I can, pushing people out of the way as I go. I didn't think I was gonna make it. Barely got out the door in time, took one step to the side, and let it rip.... right next to two officers of the law. Luckily, they were thoroughly amused by the whole thing and I didn't get in any trouble.
-Walked back to South Albany, removed all my puke clothes, washed them in the sink, took a show-show, brushed the teeth, and headed back out to meet everyone at Ameritalia. That's called a recovery.
-Next Day, Weggo's Subs... and a wrap (couldn't catch me).
-Grenade whistle battle across South Albany.
-Back to Jerz.
April 15-17: Penn State University
Travelers: The Lord, Scheff, Prince Vince, Kathleen, Myself
-Pick up the Lord. Load up the car w/ about 400lbs of alc. Fly down rt 80 at a STEADY 90mph.
-Power hour at Glo's.
-To da bahhhs. Stand in line for an hour. Finally get in. The Lord dishes out his digits to a biddy... via BUSINESS CARD.
-Blue and White Game. Tailgating in the rain. Wizard sticks. Kan Jam on a hill. Scheff throws up an absolutely atroshe frisbee toss... headed straight towards me... I try and move out of the way... I hit a patch of mud and catch air... BOOM... my ass hits the ground HARD........ can't breathe.
-Go back to Glo's. Show-shows and naps. Continue drinking. Dumb and Dumber on tv. WINGS. Tom's wizard stick almost reaches the ceiling. Friend porn.
-Sunday. Mozzarella stick grilled cheese sangwiches from Dennys... after about an hour wait. Scrounge up all our shit. Back to the Jerz.
April 21 - MoTown/Chester, NJ
Travelers: Spreenwich, Goody, Liam, Myself
-Met up w/ Spreenwich in Motown for a happy hour sesh. Free wings. Free pasta. WHATTTUP.

April 23-24: NYC
Travelers: Alex, Polly G, Big Mike, Maggie Bailey, Shceff, Platt, Myself
-Met up with the Glowtaz's
-Game time sub-in for Maggie for the dinner cruise around manhattan.

-To da bahhhs. Practiced the ancient art of Kahr-Ayo-Kay
-Met some Australian chicks. Decided to test out my Australian accent... so I told them I was also from Australia and literally talked to them w/ an 'Australian' accent the entire time. One of them said I sounded like I was from America. I told her I had been living here for ten years and that the American accent was rubbing off on you. Don't even TRY to tell me that shit aint SMOOTH.
April 27: MoTown, NJ
Travelers: Tot, the Lord, the Chad, Myself
-Met up for drinks for the Chad's last night on the East Coast.
-Live band at Sona 13 was stellar.
-Guitar girl at (whatever the second bar was) was a gem.
-We all went back to my dad's house and had an orgy.
April 30: Hoboken, NJ
Travelers: Tot, The Lord, Nick 'Sticky-Dick' Neuman, Myself
-Took forevs to get there. Never driving to Hoboken again. NJ Tranzz 4 LIFE!
-Hit up the Ith Lax Game. Saw some Ith Lax alum (Powers, Heckman, Reiter, Lohan).
-Watched Ithaca lose terribly. That team has gone steadily downhill since Glowatz's departure in '08.
-Hobo sangwiches.
That pretty much concludes 'Are We There Yet April'. Of course there were a couple Free-Movie Tuesdays, one or two golf outings, and at least one Wendy's trip mixed in there. All-in-all a solid month. My last full month here in the Dirty.
